Hello
yes there is a chance to get infected.
Hiv symptoms are varying,so better to get tested.

Usual hiv tests might take few months for the test to become positive but that is not necessary, it might get positive within a month.

There are certain tests which become positive even within a week.

I recommend you to get a P24 or PCR done for hiv. these tests are positive within a week and are almost 100 % sensitive.

Even a single virus in your body can be detected by PCR.

If this test comes negative, you can be sure that you are safe.

Let me know if you have any other doubt.

Thank you

It happened last September and no symptoms so far but there aren't always symptoms are they? If its such a small chance why do so many straight guys have hiv?

Thanks for the follow up.
Symptoms might appear years later.

The reason why HIV is prevalent is due to repeated exposure.

0.03% means that on a single exposure you 3 out of 100 chances to acquire HIV.
but as the number of exposure increases the chance also increases.

Thank you

So if you had sex 100 times with a hiv+ woman you would have 3 chances of catching hiv? Does the fact she was a prostitute make a difference? I did have an std 3 weeks later and was all clear but it was too soon for a hiv test. Sorry to keep bothering

Hey no no, you didnt understand it.
You dont know the prostitutes hiv status right.
In that case, chance is 3 out of 100 that you get hiv.
But if the girl is known hiv positive chance increase to 10 to 60 %. Hope you understand this .
