There can be lot of reasons for getting pimples. The reasons can be either hormonal disturbances or a wrong selection of soap, moisturizer, oily face, dry skin, dust, etc. The diagnosis may be simple hormone related pimples or it can be something like rosacea or dermatitis. A dermatologist will be able to diagnose after examining it closely.

Usually antibiotic creams are recommended for reducing pimples. These medicines should be applied specifically on pimples and not on normal skin. First step is to try over the counter creams containing benzoyl peroxide. You can try cream containing the antibiotic clindamycin cream or nadofloxacin. If this doesn't work then we have retinoids which work well on pimples, but that needs lot of investigations and precautions.

Lastly, if nothing works then you need to go for hormonal assessment and get treated by hormonal medicines.

All this requires a proper consultation by a dermatologist.

In ayurveda also there are some herbs that work well for pimples and have less side-effects.
