My friend had borderline b12 level at 6 weeks of pregnancy.
She had one b12 injection and shortly after that had a missed miscarriage.
Could the injection in any way contribute to the miscarriage

Brief Answer:
Deficiency of B 12 can cause miscarriage

Detailed Answer:

Thanks for writing to us.

Studies have shown that deficiency of vitamin B 12 can cause miscarriages and if left untreated may lead to infertility; nowhere is it documented that treatment of the deficiency causes miscarriages.

It could be possible that your friend may have had the miscarriage due to several reasons like chromosomal defects likely at this late age, associated folic acid and vitamin B 12 deficiency and hormonal deficiencies. Only a thorough evaluation would be able to conclude the exact cause.

Sufficient intake of diets XXXXXXX in the vitamin along with use of prenatal vitamins helps to alleviate the deficiency. It would be advisable before planning the next pregnancy to have a proper prenatal evaluation and monitoring.
