Brief Answer:
You can have Gilbert's syndrome.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for the query, my dear,

This is indicative of the fact that an individual is likely to develop Gilbert's syndrome but it's not necessary that every person with this genetic code develops it. But as you are Western very likely your bilirubin would be elevated(please get it checked).

A sure shot test for Gilbert's is to get your liver function test and the total bilirubin test is done. If bilirubin is elevated with normal other liver functions it's Gilbert's.

The good news is that this is a harmless syndrome and nothing further is to be done after diagnosis.

Follow-ups are welcome.
Thank you and regards

Hi Dr,

All liver enzymes are normal and unconjucated bilirubin is 1.3 and conjugated is 0.35 and hgb is normal so I guess I do have gilberts syndrome, is that correct?
Thank you Dr

Some people with this genetic mutation can also not have elevated bilirubin dr? Is this what you are saying. What determines who gets gilberts and who dont with the mutation?

Brief Answer:
Follow up.

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
Yes you have Gilbert's.
Yes it's not necessary that every one with that genetic code has Gilbert's.However having such genetic code increases the risk many folds.
Nature decides that.No one can predict that with 100% accuracy.

But the good news is that it's a normal syndrome. It doesn't harm body in any way.
