Question: Hi, I am suffering from recurrent UTI, I met a gynaecologist and was given zocef, pyridium and citrus soda. After this dose the problem had subsided but again recurred after few days. Following which I met an urologist, I got my culture sensitivity test done and ultrasound of lower abdomen and both were normal. Urologist gave B-Cin and cranpac for three months which I followed but immediately after completion i contracted the infection again. I met the urologist again and this time he has given me Niftran 100 mg and cranpac. After eating Niftran, I am feeling drowsy with certain sensation in my hands. Also, I am trying to conceive and worried if this medicine will create problems in conception, kindly advice. My age:32, height: 5ft 3inches

It's class B drug in pregnancy. It means even safety in animal is not studied. All the drugs except folic acid is to avoided during conception and 1st trimester period. As you seem to have recurrent urinary tract infection, it would be more helpful if you could provide following information 1. What we're your complaints when you presented to Gynecologist. 2. Brief Answer: Ensuring good water intake is beneficial Detailed Answer: Namasthe Complaints I meant did u have increased frequency of urination , burning urination or urgency. These are complaints whereas recurrent urinary tract infection is a diagnosis. Your cultures were negative, what was your Urine microscopy examination report. If your symptoms have improved and your laboratory reports are normal including microscopy examination of urine then there seems to be no cause for concern. Ensuring adequate intake of water that is 3 liter a day is all that is required. Do get back to me Take care Best Regards Dr T Shobha Deepak
