Does Missed Citalopram Dosage Cause Anxiety, Nausea And Sleep Problems?

Question: Long story short, skipped a few doses of 20mg Citalopram (taking 5 yrs). Got back on, then been feeling the side effects for 2 weeks (anxiety, nausea, hot/cold flashes and sleep problems). Kind of getting better, have dizzyness and sleep problems.

Is it normal for the citalopram to have to rebuild in my system all over again after misses a few doses?

Yes it is quite common to have the repeat of citalopram side effect after the rechalange. It seems you have restarted on 20mg. The better option would have been to start at 10mg and then gradually increase to 15 and then 20. Now that the side effects are reducing, you may continue at 20mg dosage. Do drink plenty of water and take rest. It may take 5-6days more for the side- effects to settle down .
