Does Intake Of Osphena Help In Curing Rectovaginal Fistula?

default
Posted on Fri, 18 Mar 2016
Question: I have a rectovaginal fistula that the doctors cannot find. I have had numerous tests. The episodes do not happen every day, maybe once a week , and you do not know it until you go to the bathroom. This has been going on for a year. I do not want to have surgery because I am afraid of having a colostomy that may not be able to reverse. This week my ob-gyn gave me a script for Osphena and I haven't taken it because after reading the side effects I am scared to. I have heart disease and have had a double bypass surgery. But I have never had a blood clot. So I was wondering if this medication would be safe to take. He gave it to me because he said it would heal tissue. Just wanted to know someone elses thoughts on this.

Brief Answer:
Can be taken

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
You can take osphena tablet as advised and it has minimal side effects.
The ones mentioned online are just the rare case reports which happened with certain patients which can be sheer co-incidence also.
Osphena will definitely help you but continue all your medicines advised after heart problem as there seems a little risk of clotting problems after its intake which can be easily avoided if you stick to your medicines given for heart problem
These mild side effects are present in each and and every day to day drugs and are there in over the counter drugs also.
I understand your anxiety related to surgery and is common to have certain complications after fistula surgery because of the complexity of surgical procedure itself.
So you can very well wait for the effects of the drug to come and then we can plan accordingly.
Take care

Dr Manisha
