Does Intake Of Coumadin Cause Itchy And Burning Skin?

default
Posted on Mon, 4 Jul 2016
Question: My skin burns and itches constantly, I have switched from Warfarin to Cumadin, not by choice, the new people filling my prescription did it. Could this be causing the burning sensation. Also have noticed a lot of very tender spots on my body, upper arm muscles, though musles, joint pain. etc. My face burns and I just have no energy. I have constant hissing in my ears. I also take a tyroid replacement medication. Other than these two drugs, nothing else but vitamin supplements.

Brief Answer:
Allergy reaction to Coumadin suspected as following...

Detailed Answer:
Hi my dear,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concern.

1. If the skin burning and itchiness started after you shifted from Warfarin to Coumadin, then, what you are experiencing is an allergy reaction. Please stop taking it and report this side effect to the doctor who did the change.

2. If the itchiness is unbearable, should go to ER as you might need immediate medical treatment.

3. The other symptoms of low energy and general body pain, are associated with severe cold you went through. It will take a few more time to recover. Keep well hydrated, consume more chicken soups, multivitamins containing magnesium and other minerals (as you are already taking) can also help.

Wish fast recovery!
