Brief Answer:
TVT surgery usually causes minimal pain and discomfort.

Detailed Answer:

Hello Madam,
Thanks for writing in to us.

This is Dr.Riyanka and I am glad to be helping you with your query.

The tension-free vaginal tape (TVT) procedure is useful to provide support for a sagging urethra so that even when you cough, sneeze or lift weights there is no leakage of urine and the urethra remains closed.

You will likely be asked not to drink or eat anything for 6 - 12 hours before the procedure.

This procedure can be done by giving two types of anaesthesias:

1. With general anesthesia: you feel no pain and you are asleep durng the
procedure
2. With spinal anesthesia: you are awareabout what is happening but from the
waist down you feel no pain and will be totally numb.

Tiny incisions in your abdomen and vaginal wall (Two small cuts are made in your belly just above the pubic region.).A small mesh tape is placed under your urethra like a sling to keep it in its normal position.

A small surgical cut (incision) is made inside your vagina.

TVT surgery usually causes minimal pain and discomfort.

After the surgery you will have a catheter in your bladder. This will be removed when you are able to empty your bladder on your own.

Though you may resume your daily activities in 1 to 2 weeks, you will be advised to not drive for 2 weeks and abstrain from sexual intercourse or strenuous activities for 6 weeks.

You may have gauze packing in the vagina after surgery to help stop bleeding. It is usually removed a few hours after surgery.

So dont worry go ahead with the surgery without any fear. You will definitely recover soon.

Hope this answers your query. Don't worry .

Brief Answer:
tension free vaginal tape release surgery is a minor procedure

Detailed Answer:
Hello madam,
Thanks for writing in to us at hcm.
I understand your anxiousness regarding your health problem.

Apologies. I was under the impression that you are going to undergo TVT surgery for urinary incontinence hence i had explained to you about the procedure of making incisions in the abdomen and vaginal wall.

But it seems that you have already undergone the TVT procedure and the bladder sling is already present . However because of complaints of pressure and the pain in the left lower abdomen the doctor has advised that he shall release the tension on the tape to solve your problem.

The tension free vaginal tape release surgery is a minor procedure done on outpatient basis under local anaesthesia according to the surgeon's discretion.. Most surgeons insert a catheter and with the help of a small incision release the sling on the side of the discomfort. You can go home once the procedure is done on the same day.

You can resume normal work after 3-5 days.

Hope this answers your query. Don't worry .
