Does HIV Get Trasmitted By Kissing?

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Jul 2014
Question: I went to a strip club last evening and got a lap dance. During the dance I kissed and sucked her breasts for about 2-3 minutes off and and on. I also kissed and licked (once) the skin around her breasts. Her breasts were dry and there was no discharge of any fluids. I do not have any abrasions or cuts in my mouth. I slightly burned my tongue a number of days previous to this encounter. I know this was a stupid thing to do. I just got caught up in the moment. I am really concerned about contracting an std/hiv. Am I as risk?

Brief Answer:
HIV risk is almost nil.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.

Kissing and sucking a dry breast has no risk for HIV. So you need not worry at all.
The risk of HIV in babies who suck their known HIV mother's breast milk is around 25-30% only. Not 100%. That too only after prolonged sucking for months together.
In your case you don't know her HIV status.
1. She could be well a HIV negative women.
2. Here she was not a lactating mother.
3. Sucking dry breast once.
Even if you have any abrasion in your mouth, then also HIV risk is remote and negligible.
So nothing to worry.

Thank you for the quick response to my inquiry. I am breathing much easier now. I have a secondary question concerning the same lap dance. After the encounter I noticed a small wet spot on my jeans. The spot lined up closely with the position of my penis. I had uriniated just before the dance, so I assume it was a combination of some urine and some semen (I did not ejaculate). It must have soaked through during the event. I'm 95% sure this came from me. But if it came from the girl does that put me at risk? Could there be any possibility disease through my pants?

Brief Answer:
HIV transmission is not possible through this means

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back to Healthcaremagic.
It could be a precum or prosemen. Nothing more than that. Even if it is from the dancer's bottom through her clothes and staining your clothes, there is no possibility of HIV even if your penis was on line with the same. Absolutely no risk for HIV through this.
Nothing to worry.

Thank you for responding to my questions so expeditiously. I appeeciate the support in this matter. I trust that my previous concerns do not warrant further consideration. I won't be spending any more time with dancing girls. It's just not worth it. I have one more question for you. About 7-8 days ago, I lightly scraped a small area of my hand near the knuckles. I recall there was just a tiny amount of blood present. It did not require a band aid. It healed quickly. By the time I went to the club, I could discern no wound present. The only exception to this is a miniscule (freckle size) black dot near one of my knuckles. I only noticed over the weekend. It is hardly noticable. I cannot tell if it's below or on the skin surface. The dancer did briefly kiss the top/side of my hand near this area during the dance. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Brief Answer:
There is no risk of HIV for you.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.

Kissing over a healing wound has no risk for HIV as the human saliva contains not adequate virus to cause a fresh infection even if we assume that the lady has HIV infection. So once again you need not worry about these things and relax.

Truely sorry to bother you again doctor. I just need a little more clarification from my first question's answer. Hiv risk almost nil confused me slightly. Your detailed response told me that hiv risk is so remote that it is not something I need to entertain further. So statistically, it must be a very very small percentage. Any more information about this would be most helpful to rest my mind. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Medicine can not be predicted as mathematics.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome once again.

I can understand your concern.
But Medicine is not mathematics to have a constant answer. As I really was not with you during the lap dance , I can assume the things. That is all. So only I have to use words like 'almost nil' or 'remote possibility' etc. But by kissing a non-lactating breast alone, one can not get HIV.
You could understand my position in answering also.
Relax and forget about that incident.

Thank you doctor. I understand your point. I realize that language can be inexact and difficult to articulate in a short forum such as this. I guess I just let my imagination get the best of me. I know now that my fears were making me foolish. I was just really nervous for myself and my wife. I kept replaying the dance and the horrible possibilities over and over in my mind (like the girl's nipple on my burnt tongue/her aggressiveness). I now understand that these fears are irrelevent. I don't need to think about or consider other action on this any longer. I'm going to put this behind me. The guilt however will be with me for a long time. Thank you for you patience and kindness in answering my questions doctor. Best regards.

Brief Answer:
A negative HIV test will soothe you.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Welcome once again.

I am seeing from your words, still you had not come out of that nightmare. Even though your HIV risk is almost nil, I would like to suggest you to go for a HIV test after 12 weeks of that incident. After seeing the negative result or got ruled out HIV totally, you will be relieved from your mental tension.
So keep this in your mind. It is just to make you comfortable and to get concentrated your daily routine as usual and not because of any least risk.
Relax now and have a great day.

I am relieved that you suggest the test for mental rather than physical reasons. I believe that I'm losing a little bit of my anxiety every day. I think it will just take a while for my brain and emotions to catch up with the reality of the situation we've discussed. I may wind up getting the test in the near future. But currently I'm inclined to follow your advice and "relax and forget about the incident." It will just take some disipline to control my thoughts and reactions. With such a low risk factor, I believe I can conquer my apprehensions. I just need to listen to what you have said.
