Question: Is it safe to take cephalexin 500mg and Ranitidine 150mg at the same time and no side effects from the medicine

Regarding drug interaction between ranitidine and cephalexin, there is no significant interaction. Ranitidine reduces gastric acidity and may result in bioavailability of some cephalosporins that need gastric acid to covert from prodrug to active drug. Their bioavailability may decrease. But bioavailability of this cephalosporin (cephalexin) is shown to be unaffected.

They may have individual side effects of their own but if taken together should not cause any specific side effect.

Ranitidine is recommended to be taken atleast half hour before meals. Cephalexin can be taken with or without meals but is taken with meals to reduce gastric discomfort.
