Do Recurrent Cold, Sinus Infection And Dry Skin After Oral Sex Suggest HIV?

default
Posted on Mon, 15 Feb 2016
Question: I am scared to death. I had oral sex with a female back in mid XXXXXXX and a second time in early July. In mid September I began to suffer a cold. Subsequently, the weather has changed significnatly over the course of the last 6 months. I have suffered a few colds and sinus bouts. My work schedule has been extremely intense and recently in December I was given the depo provera shot to relieve pains of endometriosis and fibroids, which I have suffered with for over a year now and had surgery to remove cysts. I confirmed with the female of her negative status and she vehemently advised of her negative status. However, I am not so sure. I have not been tested because I am scared to death. The recurrence of sinus problems and a time in October/November when I had some bites resembling flea bites on my legs, next to my belly button and on my elbows that were ever itchy. I also had some really dry skin on my t zone of my face which I attribute to washing my face with some soap I normally don't use to wash it with. I am very scared I have been infected and she wasn't truthful with me. Please help me and advise me. Thank you.

Hi
Thank you for query. I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
Welcome to health care magic. I have gone through the details and can make out your anxiety.

The chances of transmission of HIV by oral sex is nil unless there are bleeding wounds in both partners, in the area of contact. It is very unlikely.
So the chances are nil.
The upper respiratory symptoms are due to respiratory contact with any individual. It is not related to HIV and do not suggest HIV.

Cyst/endometriosis is also not related to HIV.
Itching and T-Zone symptoms are all not related to HIV.
The person is also negative. So there is no chance of HIV transmission.

You can get tested for HIV Antibodies test now to relieve your anxiety totally. The chances of tests coming positive is nil.It is better to get tested than keep worrying unnecessarily.

You can allay fears of HIV.You can consult your psychologist or psychiatrist for counselling.

You can get back for any clarification.

Thank you very much for your answer doctor. As far as there being bleeding, I had just finished my menstrual cycle when we had oral sex on the second occasion. I urinated right after sex and no blood was on the toilet paper. Does this still leave a nil probability of transmission? As far as I know, she didn't have any cuts in her mouth or anything.

I asked her twice of her status and she assured me of her negative status and even got mad at me for asking twice and hung up on me.

It is just extremely odd that I have been having these health issues since taking the depo shot and after sleeping with her. Again the intervals were mid XXXXXXX once and early July on the second occasion. I started coming down with a cold in mid September.

Thank you for your input and advise doctor.
