Dear Doctor, I Have A Question About My Nerve Conduction

Question: Dear Doctor,

I have a question about my nerve conduction study and EMG report. In XXXXXXX 2019, i started having twitches in my body ( all over but mostly in legs) which lead me to do some NCS and EMG test. Test came out fine where my amplitude values were high. I did run few more similar tests just to make sure and in March 2019 (which is kind of hot in India) my tibial nerve amplitude values were 21.78 ankle and 18 below knee. However it's been six months the twitches are still there and I kind of feel awkward walking, week legs and twitching is there. This lead me to a similar test few days ago where my median values of wrist and elbow were 18 and 19 but my tibial values were 18 amp ankle and 13 amp below knee.

Does this indicate some sort of declining pattern? Please suggest. I feel strange tingling, twitching, cramps etcThough I can walk for few kms without getting tired

I really appreciate if you could help me out.

Brief Answer:
Can be electrolyte imbalance or low Vitamin B12 levels.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I have seen the attached report. The nerve conduction in all the tested nerves is normal. There is nothing to worry. The feeling of weakness and persistent twitches, tingling can be due to dehydration, disturbance of electrolyte balance or due to low levels of vitamin B12. You can get your serum levels evaluated and start with proper supplements. Also, you can increase your fluid intake and see if it helps.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.

Thank you Sir,

I understand this completely. My only concern is if the tibial values were 21 amp and 18 amp in March before and now in October they are 18 amp and 13 amp , so is it normal to have such variants? I just want to be sure that it is not declining and there is not any underlying nerve damage or muscle damagrle

Brief Answer:
It is a normal variation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The slightly lower tibial values are normal variation. This can be corrected by using regular Vitamin B 12 supplements after getting your levels tested.
Hope my answer is helpful.
