Can Inflammatory Bowel Disease Cause Tenesmus?

default
Posted on Mon, 26 Dec 2016
Question: it's been well over a week since I'm had a bowel movement I mean I have passed very little through the bowels. I'm so sick vomiting, stomach cramps and back killing me. I've taken 2 fleet enemas, 2 bottles of magnesium phosphate, laxatives, anti gas pills and nothing is working. I'm having very little urine output so I'm almost sure I'm dehydrated I'm emotional. I need to go to the hospital but I'm so embarrassed to go for this I can only imagine the jokes and things they say about people like myself and others. I have the worse headache. I was worried I had a blockage however I read on Web md if you had a complete blockage then no stool at all would pass nor cold you pass any gas. I don't know what's going on going on I just want to feel better. Any recommendations on what to do?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Read the history carefully and understood your problems.
As per the history you have provided, this can be due to the following reasons:

IBS that is irritable bowel syndrome.
Other causes like some big polyp, mass, stricture, inflammatory bowel disease, malignancy and so, which can be diagnosed by investigations only.
I would advise you the following:
Since the problem is acute, it is better to have a clinical evaluation and an actual examination by a Doctor, preferably by a General Surgeon.

An opinion of a Gastroenterologist and further tests of CT scan and colonoscopy with biopsy would help you to get an appropriate diagnosis and a plan for further management.
Stop self-treatment.
Go for prescription based medication.
