Phentermine is used as appetite suppressant. Common side effects are related to gastrointestinal system. However sleep disturbance, sexual problem and mood changes with irritability are also reported side effects.
XXXXXXX depression episode of depression is rarely there but yes symptoms like those of depression are frequently reported after high dose of phentermine.

If symptoms begun after starting the drug and without any other stress, drug is likely responsible.

To diagnose depression detail mental status examination and history taking by a psychiatrist are important aspects.
