Can HIV Be Contracted From Sharing Drinks With A HIV Positive Person?
Question: Hi doc, I'm a little concerned about a friend of mine who is HIV positive. She works as a barista and I got coffee from her today. Well she went ahead and made my drink as well as put my straw in for me. After I drank my drink I realized that I have a cut on my lip. Is there anyway of possible infection from this? If she was bleeding on her hands and then touching my straw could I contract this? I've never been more worried about something like this before as I do not know much about HIV
Brief Answer:
THere is no risk of HIV here!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.
I have reviewed this information fully. There is a zero percent risk of possible HIV infection here. Do not be concerned or worried further. If this could lead to HIV, then everyone else on this planet would have had HIV.
I hope this addresses your fears and reassures. If you have any unanswered worries, share them with me.
