default
Posted on Thu, 13 Aug 2015
Question: I have been having upset stomach and occasional diarrhea for a couple of weeks. in the last three day's I have stopped drinking alcohol and eating spicy foods such as spaghetti sauce etc.. I know longer have a upset stomach or diarrhea but have found flecks of blood on toilet tissue and on stool. I take a low dose aspirin every night and have been taking two Aleve every twelve hours for a pinched nerve. Could the aspirin and Aleve be causing the bleeding ?

Brief Answer:
Most probably hemorrhoids

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for using HCM,

I read very carefully your question and understand your concern.

It is good that you have calmed down the stomach problems by making the proper dietary changes. It is the right way to act in this case.

Though the 2 medicines you are using cause stomach upset, leading not rarely to an ulcer and even bleeding.

But, a bleeding that comes from the stomach would have a black, really black color in the stool, because the blood changes it structure when in contact with the acid of the stomach. So, if you are saying that it is bright blood, then it most probably comes from the rectum and anus area.

Most probably it may be Hemorrhoids.
Some advises to help with them are to do warm bath sits twice/day, clean always with water after every bowel movement that area, and if it continues and its not getting better, then a visit with a specialist would be recommended.

One last note on my side, is that at some point avoiding an upset stomach may not be possible with only dietary changes, since you are using the 2 drugs. So, consider also taking any medicine that protects the stomach, like omeprazole, pantoprazole, ect...

Hope this is helpful.
