Can Acetaminophen Be Taken Before A Surgery?

Question: My wife cannot take acetaminophen and will be having surgery soon and therefore cannot take aspirin based products. Is there a formulation that is simply hydrocodone?

Hi there,

Acetaminophen is not an aspirin based drug. Therefore, it does not give the same effects of aspirin. It can be safely use before, during and after surgery.

Hydrocodone is an opioid pain-killer which is derived from codeine. Using codeine can also ease the pain before and after surgery.
You need your doctor's prescription to get hydrocodone at your local pharmacy. You can find it also online but still need prescription.

The brand names for hydrocodone only include Zohydro ER. The most popular brands are in combination with acetaminophen.
