Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Welcome to Ask a Doctor service.
I have reviewed your results, Absolute eosinophil count is raised so is the percentage of eosinophils in the blood.
Apart from this other parameters are not significantly altered.
MCHC is on the lower side, reflecting anaemia. A peripheral blood picture, Red Cell Distribution width, MCV, Haemoglobin, will help in identifying the type of anaemia.
The raised eosinophils indicate either an allergic reaction, or low grade inflammatory response or tropical eosinophilia which is seen in tropical countries such as XXXXXXX
Do you suffer from any illness like asthma, recurrent allergies, runny nose and itching in the eyes etc.,?
Why was the test done?
Could you please elaborate on your symptoms so that I can help you further.
For now, I would suggest you to wait for 15 days and repeat the test and see if there is any change.
Wishing you good health.
Best regards
Runny nose seems to be due to allergy then, re do the test.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again XXXXXXX
Thank you for clarifying.
As mentioned earlier, runny nose is one of the ways in which you experience allergies and it is called as allergic rhinitis.
I would recommend you to re do the CBC after 15 days of subsiding of these current symptoms if the eosinophils are still elevated, then you would need to consult and allergist or immunologist.
I hope that answers your query.
For the runny nose you may take Tab. Levocetrizine 10 mg twice a day for 5 days.
Wishing you good health.
Best regards
It means your kidneys are working well.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Normal range for BUN (blood urea nitrogen) is 7 to 20 mg/dl.
But that is not an absolute number as the BUN can be lower is pregnancy and the reference range of the lab etc.
A value of 5 is not at all worrisome.
BUN measures the nitrogen from the urea in the blood, urea is a protein breakdown end product.
BUN can be low if your liver is not working very well, but can also be low if you do not consume enough proteins in your diet.
You do not need to do anything about it now. That is why I did not discuss that earlier.
Hope that clarifies your doubts.
Thank you for using the service, All the best
