Around A Month Ago I Bent Over My Bathroom Sink

Question: Around a month ago I bent over my bathroom sink to wash a facial cleanser off my face and I suddenly gone extremely dizzy, vertigo like feeling. Could feel like my feet was sinking through the ground and like I was going to fall over.

Since this episode I've been having real difficulties with vertigo, dizziness and off balance. I've had many of different episodes in the last month.

Couple days ago I was doing some shopping in a supermarket. I got a text message so I looked at my phone while stood up straight. Slightly bent my head down to look at the phone and within seconds I gone extremely dizzy and off balance. The feeling passed in a matter of 60 seconds after stopping looking at my phone.

I apologize if this is too much information but I thought its worth mentioning that I've also had this when not moving my head or neck whatsoever. Was stood up yesterday in a specific position having sex with my partner. And the thrusting while stood up caused severe vertigo, dizziness, lack of balance ect.

I also have this come on if I stand in an upright position for more than 20-30 seconds without moving. If I stand still for more than 30 seconds the symptoms begin
to come on. Often like a hard jolt of the body followed by dizziness and lack of balance.

Any idea what could be causing this? I did have a hypothyroid flare up about a month ago. But I've been on a new 100mcg levothyroxine dosage for over a month now!

Forgot to mention. I have also been feeling really strange on and off for these few weeks. Just assumed it was my thyroid recovering or something like that. Strange as in going extremely disorientated on and off. One minute feeling fine the next feeling detached and disorientated.

Had a pretty scary episode to the ones mentioned above when squatting in the gym today. My usual 100kg squat, completed one rep, on the second rep I suddenly gone very wobbly coming up. Felt like I was rocking forward and sinking through the floor. Had to drop the bar. Feeling passed in a minute or two.

Thanks for any help

Brief Answer:
Benign paroxysmal vertigo possible.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and long history and here is my advice.
I believe the dizziness episodes you are experiencing may be related to benign paroxysmal vertigo. You are having typical episodes of vertigo provoked by sudden head movement like bending in sink or moving and turning in bed and they last about a minute.
I think you should go to ENT doctor to get examined. He will perform you some physical tests to verify it but your explanation is clearly showing it.
Also doctor may perform you Epley manoeuvre to move the calcium crystals formed in your inner ear which may be causing the condition.

Hope I have answered the question.
