Are Warts Around The Pubic Area And Irritation In Urethra Signs Of HPV?

default
Posted on Thu, 11 Aug 2016
Question: About two months ago I was diagnosed with HPV by discovering genital warts around my pubic area and on the base of the shaft. While it wasn't all that upsetting to find out because I know it's extremely common and harmless, I soon became paranoid over what else I could possibly have. I was promptly tested for Herpes and the anxiety of that test ruined me, but eventually the test said I was fine. Anyways, about two months have gone by and for some reason I am experiencing recent irritability in my "penis hole" or urethral meatus. It's gone on now for about two days. I HAVEN'T HAD SEX SINCE MY HPV DIAGNOSES AND HERPES TEST. THE LAST SEX I HAD WAS COMPLETELY PROTECTED WITH NO ORAL ALMOST THREEE MONTHS AGO. Now this recent subtle irritability only really flares up when I'm not active (like lifting or playing basketball or even walking). This irritation came after I masturbated one morning and has been around for the past coupe of days. It doesn't hurt to pee, it just feels like something is "in there". It should be worth noting that I just got over a sinus infection as well, which is why I'm now super worried it could be connected.

ALSO WORTH NOTING: For some dumb reason, I was taking 6000+ mg of Vitamin C for the past couple of weeks. I read that megadosing on Vitamin C can cause dehydration which could lead to irritation in the urethra. I don't know if this is true or not.

My questions to the public are:

1) Is this a symptom of HPV?
2) Is this a symptom of chlamydia or gonorrhea?
3) Is this a symptom of a UTI?
4) Is this a symptom of dehydration?
5) How long should I wait to get this checked out?
6) Am I just paranoid for no reason?

Brief Answer:
Urethritis symptoms,nothing serious though....

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through the medical history carefully and understood your concern.

There are some points to recapitalize in your case:
- male diagnosed with HPV 2 months ago
- no recent sexual intercourse
- only masturbation recent history
- urethral irritation after getting masturbated
- no signs of penile discharge or smelling
- using high doses of vit C

In all your history, I can find urethritis (inflammation of urethral opening) after masturbation. This is due to friction while masturbating.

To answer your questions:
1. No
2. No
3. Should run urine analysis to rule out UTI
4. A complete blood electrolytes and pH studies are needed to rule out/confirm dehydration. Urine analysis can also help.
5. Keep good genital hygiene. Take OTC AZO standard to get relief from burning/pain.
6. Can run STDs tests to exclude other STDs, however to me you're worrying unnecessarily as long as no discharge is present.
Avoid masturbation and sex until improvement. If no amelioration within next couple of days, should see your doctor or urologist for further evaluation.

All the best.
