Are Red Painful Spots Under The Foreskin A Sign Of Penile Cancer?

default
Posted on Mon, 23 May 2016
Question: Hi doctor,
I had a white spot under my foreskin that i had for a while and was painless. However, it has turned red and has begun to be painful. It has been like this for two or three days now. I am very young - 20 years old - and it most likely is not an STI as I am a virgin. I have started to panic that it might be penile cancer or something else serious.

Any advice and a potential diagnosis would be greatly appreciated.

Brief Answer:
Bacterial skin infection; should resolve in about a week with antibiotics

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I have read your query and I have also reviewed the Image.

You seem to have bacterial skin infection i.e a furuncle. If I was the treating doctor I would suggest an Oral antibiotic e.g Amoxicillin 500 mg Or Cephalexin 500 mg, three times daily, for a week. Oral antibiotics are prescription medications and I suggest that you talk to your doctor for the needful.
Topically you may use an otc topical antibiotic e.g Neosporin ointment, twice daily.

Regards
