I put vasaline on my rectum and that does help. I have not had a normal bowel movement for 4 days. It is hard for me to get clean. Do you think that this could be IBS? I am 70 years old 4ft 10 and weigh about 150 lbs. I hope you can give me some information.

Brief Answer:
Not IBS!

Detailed Answer:
HI and thanks for this query.

This is most likely not IBS. It needs at least several weeks before IBS can be diagnosed. Also, we only settle on IBS only when no other cause for the symptoms is identified. Your symptoms point to possible indigestion. I will suggest that you eliminate most vegetables and fruits from your diet: Cabbage, broccoli, lentils, beans, etc. Also, avoid mixing several different food types at once as this allows for fermentation, excessive gas production and poor digestion and absorption. If you also started with any recent changes in your diet, kindly backtrack those changes.

I will go with the above measures and re-evaluate to see what happens. I believe this will help. Unless symptoms persist, I will not go for detailed evaluation or further prescriptions at this time.

Kindly update in the next 72hours after starting these changes on what a difference they have made.
