Are Negative ELISA And P24 Antigen HIV Tests After 1.5 Years Of Exposure Conclusive?

Question: Hello Doctor,
I had an unprotected sex with my girl friend 1.5 years back and recently I got tested 4th generation elisa eia specific for the detection of antibodies to HIV 1 and HIV 2 and p24antigen of HIV1 and I got non-reactive (negative) result. Is this test conclusive? Please let me know.

1. The ELISA 4th generation rapid test is most accurate for the screening of HIV infection. It tests for p24, HIV I and II antibodies

2. If done after 1.5 years following unprotected sex then it is conclusive.

3. Non reactive means normal and there is no need to do any more test.

Hello Doctor,
Thanks for your reply.
To be more specific on the dates, in February 2014 I had last unprotected sex with her and I got the test on 15.6.2015 which is negative result ie.,1 year & 4 months gap. So this test is conclusive right? I'm writing again because I have mentioned earlier as 1.5 years but actually it is 1 years and 4 months.
Please let me know.

Any time after 6 months from sex the test is conclusive

1. The ELISA test you got done is for p24 antigen, HIV I and II antibodies.

2. After one month of sex the test is conclusive for p24 antigen and therefore HIV I infection.

3. Following 6 months from sex it is conclusive for HIV I and II antibodies and therefore HIV I and II infection and therefor your test done at 1 year 4 months is conclusive.
