Question: wondering if I have herpes. I have flue like symptoms accompanied with diarrhea, ear ache, body ache, scratchy throat, chest congestion, nasal drainage and couching. No sign of blisters.

Additional information. The symptoms started 8 days ago. They have improved over time. Over the weekend my throat hurt it so bad I could barely talk. As my symptoms improved, I coughed up the usual greenish mucus that u have during a bad cold/flu.

Brief Answer:
Regarding shingles

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you.
I am Dr kakkar (Dermatologist and Venereologist). I have noted your concern.
Herpes zoster or shingles presents with painful fluid filled lesions (vesicles). A prodrome of flu like symptoms may precede the eruption by a few days but 8 days is a bit too long to wait for the eruption to appear. Perhaps you only have a viral flu or an upper respiratory infection.

Brief Answer:
Doesn't seem like STD

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

No, it seems like an upper respiratory infection rather than Herpes Genitalis. Herpes Genitalis usually presents with a prodrome of tingling, burning feeling that is localized to the genital or peineal region rather than generalized symptoms like earache, bodyache, nasal congestion, coughing.
