Is It Normal To Have Spotting After An Ablation Of Uterus Lining?

I had an ablation of the uterus lining on May 17. It appeared everything was good. But I started spotting blood on Oct 9th and am still spotting. I am wondering if this is worrisome or if it is normal. It is light and some discomfort almost every day.

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.

Endometrial ablation is destruction of the lining of the uterus. Most such ablations are not 100 % effective, and hence a significant number of women can continue to have menstrual bleeding within some years of the procedure. Spotting may return back to normal regular cycles in few.

If you have continued bleeding not cyclical spotting could be due to endometrial problem, consult doctor and get examined, ultrasound may required to know endometrial thickness.

Hope this helps you.

Regards
