Hi, Thanks for your query, Hiatus hernia and GERD usually cause chronic cough due to reflux of acidic material into the trachea(windpipe) and causing inflammation. But usually do not cause breathlessness. One possibility may be anaerobic pneumonia or chemical pneumonia due to the same mechanism. Must rule out concomitant asthma or any heart disease...
