Will The Presence Of Somebody Be The Result Of Depression?

My mother has now for some time indicated that she feels someones presence in the home and feels that this presence has caused her difficulty breathing. She feels that this "person" comes and goes and is convinced that it exists. 3 other persons living with her do not see or feel antyhing. I am thinking that she is paranoide but everything else about her appears normal. She prays constantly especially when she feels that this presence is there. She calls is evil.

She takes Paxil currently but I am not convinced that her condition has not evolved from depression to something else.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for using healthcare magic

If she feels someone presence at home, that would go in favor of psychosis. In that case, you should consult a psychiatrist for proper diagnosis and treatment. In psychosis, treatment of choice is antipsychotic agent and paxil is antidepressant. That would not help in her case. In case, you need further help, you can consult me.

Thanks
