Hi,

The usual adult dosage for loratadine to treat an insect bite or other allergic reaction is 10 mg once a day. However, if the symptoms are severe or not responding to this dosage, you should consult with your healthcare provider about increasing the dosage or switching to a different medication.

It's important to note that loratadine may not provide immediate relief for symptoms such as itching and swelling, as it can take some time to start working. In addition to medication, other measures such as applying a cold compress or using an over-the-counter topical cream may also help alleviate symptoms.

As with any medication, it's important to follow the dosage instructions provided by your healthcare provider or on the medication label and do not exceed the recommended dose. If you have any concerns or questions about your medication, you should speak with your healthcare provider.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
