Hi,
Cramps which are mild in nature and backache are seen during early uneventful pregnancy. If there is no associated symptom like bleeding, pain in lower abdomen or into the thighs, the pregnancy is safe. Since the gestation sac is not clearly resolvable at this stage of pregnancy, a repeat and preferably trans-vaginal sonogram after another week usually gives proper clarification. If serial titres of serum beta-hCG are also done in addition, a better idea about the viability of the pregnancy is provided since doubling of titres every 2-3 days indicates good progress. Hope this helps.
