Why is lupigest prescribed during pregnancy ?

i had taken lupigest 200 tablet orally for 2 months during my pregnancy , as told by my gynaecologist . Was that safe? B cz, i had to abort my child in the 18th week as it had trisomy 18.

Lupigest is a micronised progesterone preparation given in early pregnancy for a good placental support so that the baby can grow well. It is commonly used in pregnancy and does not cause Trisomy 18- a chromosomal defect.
