Is Withdrawing From Lupigest During Pregnancy Safe?

Hello! I am 9 weeks pregnant and my doctor has prescribed me lupigest 200 and HCG injections. Also I hv been detected wd hypothyroid during pregnancy(level 10.7) for which I am taking eltroxin. But last few days I hv lot of vomitings n heatburn problem and I think its because of taking lupigest. I had an abortion before after 7 weeks of pregnancy. My question is can I stop taking lupigest now?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Lupigest Contains female hormones called progesterone. They are necessary for normal pregnancy though not always indicated.

You should not stop it without your doctor advice. You can take some over the counter antacid for the gastric upset and discuss stopping Lupigest with your gynaecologist if not improved. But don't stop it without advice.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
