Why Hands Tingle Or Gets Numb While Sitting And Stops On Standing?
Hi, I am noticing that my hands tingle or even get numb when I am sitting at my desk or sitting up in bed reading. It pretty much stops when I am standing. What test do I need to rule out possible conditions. I am a 57 y.o. Female in pretty good health and shape.
Your symptoms are suggestive of compression of hands' nerves at elbow-joints' level, particularly when the hands are in flexed position (as when sitting at your desk or reading in bed). In standing position, the arms become straight, which relieve the compression --> problems disappear.
An X-ray of elbow joints, along with examination by a neurologist- is required to the diagnosis.
Consult your doctor and apprise him of my opinion. I am certain that he will agree with me, get X-ray done and will guide you on the best course of action.
