What's Causing Swollen Eyes On Waking Up With Inability To Open Them And Swollen Stomach In A 3 Yo Child?

My son is 3 years old he is 1 of twins born at 25week gestation he had a stormy neonatal period and has since had health complications.he has chronic lung disease left vocal cord palsy global development delay and autism.my main concerns right now which I assume is unrelated to his complex needs.for about 2 weeks he has woken up every morning with severe swollen eyes and at times cannot open them our doctor said it could me an allergic reaction but there has been no change in food or soap powder I use and since yesterday he has a very swollen stomach and on off temperature im really worried doctor does not seem to know what this can be do you have any idea?? Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.
I can understand your concern.

One of the causes for swollen eyes is allergy. But there are other causes as well. They include diseases of other organs and systems. Diseases of kidney like nephrotic syndrome can cause puffiness of the eyes. This may also be associated with swelling of the body including feet and abdomen. Various other conditions can cause fluid retention and swelling around the eyes. These include cardiac conditions also. Swelling of the eyes can be present in infections of the eyes also. Here there will be redness of the eyes.

Hope this helps.
