my 9 yr old, is complaining of a severe ear pain. He stated that he heard a loud ringing, he now has some discharge. he has no fever, but is throwing up and has a very bad cough. His doctor cannot get him in today and I wanted to know if this warrants an er visit or an emergency clinic visit?
Understanding your concern. As per your query your kid has ear pain along with discharge which could be due to accumulation of fluid in ear canal and it could be due to development of negative ear pressure. I would suggest you to put otogesic ear drops to give relief to child. You should give antibiotic Levofloxacin to child for 5 days. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get otoscopic ecamination of ear and start treatment after proper prescription. Give warm compresses to child.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
