Suggest Treatment For Ear Pain Along With Swallowing Difficulty

I have ear pain primarily in my left ear, but sometimes both ears. This has happened for over a week, but becomes increasingly strong starting in the late afternoon. I mentioned the ear pain about a week ago at a physical and there was not a sign of an ear infection. Swallowing also causes the ear pain. It seams that the ear pain may stem from the jaw area as pressing in certain areas can somewhat lesson the pain.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain pain in ear and difficulty in swallowing with no signs of ear infection seems to be due to disorder related to the jaw joint or temporomandibular joint..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Orthopantomogram can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
Common causes that can cause jaw joint disorder or TMJ can be teeth grinding or Bruxism, traumatic injury, malocclusion etc..
In case if there is disorder associated with jaw joint treatment will be planned according to the cause like occlusal splints, night guards, anti-inflammatory painkillers, physiotherapy as well as in few cases surgery can also be advised..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
