Hello. I am Dr Mittal. I have read your message. I think I can help you. The symptoms of the query are quite suggestive of a possible episodes of seizures. The sudden onset of symptoms-drowsiness- followed by picking up of conversation where left is quite suggestive of Absence seizures. I would ideally need more information, which is not available in the query you entered. I am therefore entering some features of the condition that you may corelate with your wife s condition and come to the conclusion- The episodes are multiple in a day. The episodes are usually brief. There may or may not be lip smacking episodes. The patient may have falls rarely. Most of the times there is no falls. The patient looks dazed for a few seconds and then resumes the activities that were on. If these conditions match, we are probably dealing with absence seizures. You will need to meet a neurologist to test a video EEG and MRI Brain (seizure profile). Antiepileptics may be started as per the reports. I have tried to make it as simple as possible.
