What Is The Treatment For Migraines?
what is wrong with me hi my name is chris poe im 16 and i have mirgraines i have been going to the doctor about my mirgraines and tnay have run test atfer test thay did ekgs chest xrays ct scan of my brain and skull full urine analices clinentcal blood test mirs of my head and neck mras of my head and neck and thay have found nothen and the symthomes are strange i have tingling in my left arm and hands and my hand from my wrist down turns purple i can walk and i have blurred vision and incoherant speech phobia of light and sounds naushia high blood pressure and high heart rate when i have mirgraines i dont no if the high blood pressure and heart rate has to do with it because i take alot of medicine i take lexapro focalin focalin xr tenex statera cypoheptdenine so i dont no whats going on can someone help me is it a mirgraine or something else what could it be

Hi,
There are different medications that can be used for the treatment of migraines.
Migraine treatment can be divided into:
(1) abortive (this is a medication used to treat the headaches when they happen ) OR
(2) preventive (this is used to stop the headaches from occurring at all- it is used when persons have very frequent or severe headaches)
Ireven 75 is an antidepressant and though it can be used for some types of pain, it may not be helpful for migraines.
Abortive treatment- depends on how bad the migraine may be If moderate migraine then you can try:
(1) Aspirin
(2) Ibuprofen at 400mg to 800mg every 6 to 8 hours
(3) Naproxen- initial 500mg then 250mg every 6 hours
(4) Ketoprofen- 25 to 50 mg every 6 to 8 hours
One of these can be tried, should be available over the counter. If one of these is not effective then you may need one of the medications mentioned below.
There is also medication specific for migraines eg sumatriptan, zolmitriptan, eletriptan, naratriptan. These would require a prescription from your doctor.
