What Is The Recovery Period For Vitrectomy?

Hi - I'm post operative 1 week 5 days from having vitrectomy for a macular hole. How long before my eye gets rid of the varying irritation - at times rather intense still. End of the day is probably the worst. How long does it take to heal. I'm not due to go back to my doctor until Thursday week.

Hello
It seems from the history that you have undergone vitrectomy surgery for macular hole.
The recovery time for vitrectomy is usually more and it requires 4-6 weeks for total recovery.
The final visual outcome depends on the cause and severity of the problem before surgery and in your case it depends on the stage of macular hole.

Thank you
