My daughter noticed that her 7 week old baby had a problem with his right eye. It looked hazier than his left. She went to her GP straight away, and thence to a hospital where today he has been diagnosed with glaucoma (unilateral so far). We are devastated. He will need surgery soon. Question? Will his sight be saved? Long term prognosis?
Hello It seems from the history that 7 week old baby of your daughter is diagnosed with unilateral glaucoma. This is most probably congential glaucoma. The treatment of the condition is by use of antigluacoma drugs but the definitive treatment for this condition is by glaucoma surgery. With early diagnosis and treatment and good follow up the prognosis is good. Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for treatment at the earliest without wasting time.
Thank you
