What Is The Cause Of Drooling Of Saliva?

Hi my son is 8 months old and he had found a unopened box of gum in the babybag while I was getting ready and put it in his mouth. After I put everything back I noticed he was moving his tongue alot and drooling more when I checked he had a little piece of plastic in his mouth. I dont know if he swallowed any of it or not. His eating good, drinking well not choking or fussying at all. He has a little cold and is coughing and sneezing and running a little fever which is under control.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello. Thank you for your question. The plastic you found in your sons mouth is harmless and it shouldn't concern you. The most common reason reason for increased drooling in this age group is teething. In fact, some children drool so much, a bin is required. As long as your son is otherwise comfortable, there is no need to worry.
