What Effect Will The Antibiotics Have On My Baby When Pregnant?

hello doctor. i m 5 weeks pregnant . the day i had the fetilizing intercourse, was 15 days after taking one week of cifran(2 pils per day), veltum and terol la-2(1 pil per day) for 1 week. after that i knew i'm pregnant. Now i stop taking antibiotics. Will my baby have effected? what should i do? please reply

Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Cifran is contra indicated in pregnancy.
I think you mean Veltam, not veltum, and Veltam is also contraindicated in pregnancy.
Similarly, Terol - la ( tolterodine ) is also not supposed to be used in pregnancy.
However, all the 3 drugs were stopped a fortnight before you had intercourse that led to conception.
Hence, during early pregnancy, there would be absolutely no effects of these drugs on the baby.
Do not worry on this score.
These medications are not supposed to be taken in the first trimester of pregnancy, and you stopped using them early enough.
There are no complications that you should worry about.
Avoid taking any sort of medications now without consulting your obstetrician first.
It is best to take 5 mg per day folic acid supplements throughout your pregnancy.
Have scanning done at 7 weeks to confirm cardiac activity and proper growth and development of the baby.
