What Does This Ultrasound Report During Pregnancy Indicate?
hello doctor,i am 24 years old&60kgs and in last year march i got misscarriage at 9 weeks.this is my first pregnancy and now i am 16 week pregnant.i have done ultra sound last week and in that The placenta is anterior&in the lower segment covering the os completely in the midline, with grade 1 maturity.what does it mean?and i am getting stomach pain freqently.will it cause any problem in further weeks to me&to my baby?
Hello dear,I understand your concern. In my opinion the placenta in the lower segment means low lying placenta. This might be there in a few people in early pregnancy but it might spontaneously move towards upper segment during the course of pregnancy which is a normal position of placenta.Low lying placenta might cause bleeding during pregnancy which makes mother anaemic and growth retardation of baby.So I suggest you to avoid provocative factors which cause bleeding like physical strain, intercourse etc.Take strict bed rest.Follow the position of placenta with a course of ultrasounds. Best regards...Dr.srilatha
