What Does Spinal Stenosis, At C4-C5,Severe Left Spinal Stenosis At C4-C5 Indicate?
MRI results state urgent neurosurgeon consult... why? Compared with MR dated 8/6/2013, interval increase in the size of the left posterior disc extrusion, and the corresponding spinal stenosis, at C4-C5. Severe left spinal stenosis at C4-C5 with flattening of the left side of the cord. Patchy hyperintensity in the cord at the level of C4 and C5 is new from 8-6-2013 and is suggestive of edema related to cord compression.
Hi, Thanks for using healthcaremagic. The MRI report is suggestive of increased disc herniation on the left side at C4-5 level. Because of this herniation, there is a compression of the spinal cord and it is resulting in edema of the spinal cord. That's the reason a neurosurgeon consult is advised. It might require surgery and removal of the extruded disc which will release compression on the spinal cord and nerve roots. If it is delayed then the effect may be permanent. I suggest you to follow the advise and consult a neurosurgeon as early as possible. Hope it sorts your problem and wishing you a speedy recovery. Regards, Dr. Pankaj Nagori Specialist Radiology
