General & Family Physician 's  Response
A feeling if pressure in your chest can be due to many things. It can be due to dyspepsia or indigestion .It cn be caused by angina (a reduced blood flow to your heart)usually felt as a feeling of heaviness with sweating. It can also be cused by any variation in your heart rhythm(Arrhythmias). It is also seen in women who have hypothyroidism. You can easily rule out a heart condition by taking an ECG and if the cardiologist says a treadmill test and an echo. You can rule out any thyroid condition by checking your T3,T4 and TSH.If all these are negative you can safely assume your pain may be due to indigestionor sometimes due to costochondritis(inflammationof the costal cartilges). In cse it is dyspepsia taking T Rabeprazole 20mg twice daily for 1 week along with mucaine gel 10ml thrice daily will be enough.
