Hi,

Ofloxacin is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections. It works by inhibiting the growth and multiplication of bacteria, which helps to clear up the infection. Continued use of ofloxacin at a prophylactic dose can lead to several side effects. Some of the common side effects of ofloxacin include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, and abdominal pain. Long-term use of ofloxacin can also lead to the development of resistant bacteria, which can make future infections more difficult to treat.

In addition, ofloxacin can interact with other medications, such as antacids, and reduce their effectiveness. It is important to inform your doctor of all medications you are taking, including over-the-counter medications and supplements, before starting a course of ofloxacin. It is also important to note that ofloxacin should not be taken without a prescription and proper medical supervision. The decision to take a prophylactic dose of ofloxacin should be made by a doctor after considering your medical history, current health status, and any other medications you may be taking.

Therefore, it is recommended to consult with your doctor before continuing the prophylactic dose of ofloxacin to prevent any potential side effects or complications.
