What Causes Yellow Curled Phlegm After Treated Chest Infection?

have just been in hospital for a week and treated intravenously for a chest infection. Sent home two days ago coughing less and on tablets...Amoxycillin/potassium @ Roxithromycin@Prednisolene and thought coming good. However at 4.00am this morning started coughing deeply and brought up a yellowish worm curled up and about 2 inches long. What is this and what should I do now???.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The yellow phlegm is usually related to an infection of the respiratory tract. I suggest using a mucolytic such as Mucinex to treat the cough. I also suggest to continue the medications as prescribed by your doctor. I recommend to drink liquids and rest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
