What Causes Sever Pain The Tailbone?

I have been having severe pain in the tailbone region for months now and intensifies when I cough. It will go away and then come back within days. I have had an X-ray - no cracks or broken and the doctor could not feel any cysts. I am confused and frustrated and tired of the pain. Please help!

Hello,

Tailbone pain is a pain that occurs in or around the bone structure at the bottom of the spine. It can be caused by trauma to the coccyx during a fall, prolonged sitting on a hard or narrow surface or degenerative joint changes. I suggest to do an X-ray to evaluate the coccyx for degenerative changes. Meanwhile, I suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the pain. I also suggest using cold compresses and avoid poor posture.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
