What Causes Persistent Headaches After Nasal Surgery?

My mom's had a headache for 193 consecutive days, with very little relief. She had surgery on her nasal passages because one was collapsed, and that only made the headache worse after about 10 days. Not even the best pain killers work. Her doctor an the Ear Nose Throat center can't find what's wrong. What should she do? What could it possibly be? Thanks!

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing to healthcaremagic.

The best answer can be given by only after seeing all reports and examination.
I will try my best to answer you specifically.

I think she should undergo paranasal sinus CT scan to check exact cause. Likely possibility is recurrent or chronic sinusitis secondary to nasal septum problem operation. Please consult some another ENT surgeon.

She should take course of antibiotic like levofloxacin 500 mg for 7 days at empty stomach. Also try to inhale vicks vaporizer.

If CT scan comes normal, her headache is likely due to somatic concern and evaluation by psychiatrist needed in that case.
Hope I have answered your query,
Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.
