What Causes No Fetus In Sonogram And UPT Positive?

I am 5 weeks pregnant, my LMP was June 30th. No Bleeding or spotting has occured, thankfully. Here's my worry..I went into the ER lastnight around 10pm becuase I started cramping REALLLY bad around 4 along with a bad headache and backache to follow. Yet, no spotting or bleeding thankfully. SO the Dr took some blood, urine, and did a sonogram. She came back and said that she couldnt find the baby on the sono and the urine was negetive, but the blood said I could be. My hgc was 38, the endometrium measured 8mm, and my uterus measured 6cm in length x 2.7cm AP diameter. So Im very confused, because i've taken 6 at home tests ( all positive) and went to a womans clinic yesterday and it was a confirmed pregnancy. Took another test this morning and its still a positive, so idk.. Does this happen very often? Should I be worried or not?

OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine 's  Response
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. The fetus is not visible in ultrasound in such a early pregnancy of 5 weeks. However, serum hCG levels of 38 are very low for a viable pregnancy.
The urine pregnancy test comes positive when hCG levels are more than 35.
Sometimes, the conception is delayed and hence the fetal pole is visible in ultrasound a bit delayed.
I would suggest you to wait for2 weeks and get a repeat ultrasound to see the fetal growth.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Wishing you good health.
Regards,
Dr Deepti verma
